This breakfast nook is a study of simplicity, and how traditional and contemporary relate. Our clients loved their shaker table and chairs, and were thrilled when we said they worked in the new design. This room sits adjacent to the garden, so we had the walls covered in a block-printed botanical pattern, and then hung the very contemporary glass light over the table. The look is warm, traditional, and modern at the same time.

A Thomas O'Brien piece for Hickory Chair originally purposed for TV is now a china cabinet and more. The armoire holds lots of china and large serving pieces. Antique wood toy table provides an extra shelf. Plate rack adds vertical storage. Drawers below and upper doors provide more storage.

Old Greenwich, Connecticut | John Beckmann was responsible for designing the interiors of a newly constructed "shingle style" house, located on Long Island Sound. The design is contextual, mixing some of the clients existing furniture with new pieces while respecting the traditionalist design that is native to the region. The dining table was custom designed by John Beckmann and fabricated in South Africa. The carpet was designed by Christopher Farr. The painting is by James Nares. Project Team: John Beckmann
