Should we stair step the entry to make the house more private with respect to someone on the side walk? I'm referring to the same concept used in designing big government building and churches where a long set of stairs create a feeling of respect for the structure. Alternatively, leaving the entry flat the way it is give the person on the sidewalk a more approachable feel to the house but makes the house feel too open to outsides especially in this semi residential location we're at. Think of stores: they have the door a sidewalk level to make them very approachable.
