What to Look Forward to at ACETECH Mumbai 2018
The yearly ET ACETECH design fair is all set to reach Mumbai. Let's see what the community has to say about the event
Trade fairs present themselves as great opportunities for attendees to learn what’s new in the business, to network with key industry experts and to collaborate with people. One such premier fair in the design space is Economic Times ACETECH, organised by ABEC | ITE. The yearly fair is Asia’s largest and the world’s third-largest show for building materials, architecture and design. This year, ET ACETECH Mumbai will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, from 15 to 18 November.
As the much-talked about event approaches, we decided to speak to a few architects and designers to understand what pulls them to this event and what they are expecting from the fair this year.

From what I’ve heard, ET ACETECH is going to present a wide variety of luxury brands this year. Since I am mostly into high-end, luxury homes, for me a curated section of luxe brands would be beneficial. This is one of the biggest decor trade fairs in India and it’s a great platform.

I am looking forward to a selection of innovative design products rather than the usual materials and designs that are now already rampant in the market. I am particularly interested in what Philips lighting has to offer in their new products section.

One that thing I look forward to is seeing how ET ACETECH can become a centre for innovation; a place that encourages younger architects to create something new. Instead of architects just attending the event and doing market research, the event can provide a platform where they can start funding competitions and innovations. They can invite a bunch of designers, ask them to create new products and let the public view it at the event.

I’ve been attending the event for the last 8-10 years and over time, ET ACETECH has improved by miles. Although it’s not curated as a design fair as are others, I like their vast selection of brands all the same. I like the iDecorama section which showcases high-end luxury brands. Apart from the sanitary, lighting and tiling booths, what we also really look forward to are the furniture and accessories brands. Overall, this is a good fair for everyone to attend.
