Pet’s Place: Cat, Dog and Extended Family All Under One Roof
Pipi Lotta and Benji know the rules of the house and spend all their time with the people they live with
Meet Benji: He’s bullheaded, and follows Eesmaa everywhere. “When I get up from my desk,” she says, “he looks at me with this face that says: ‘You going somewhere? Can I come too?’ ” Many times he can, wagging his tail the whole time.

Sharing space: The family shares a single-family home with Eesmaa’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law. To help make the home work for everyone, Pipi Lotta and Benji have some house rules. The first is that Pipi Lotta isn’t allowed on the dining table, no matter how much she wants to climb up during breakfast. She’s also not allowed on the coffee table or kitchen countertops.
Benji is not allowed on the couch or beds. Instead, he has a little ottoman that he can curl up on when the family is enjoying couch time, and he has a dog bed in the master bedroom.

Workday companions: Eesmaa works from home as a designer and brand stylist, and Pipi Lotta and Benji are never far from her desk. Pipi Lotta always finds a way to wallow in her notebooks and paper and get a paw into the photo shoots. Benji interrupts work less often. Instead, he curls up under Eesmaa’s desk and trots out of the room behind her when she gets up.

Home, sweet home: “Without them, the house would be so empty,” Eesmaa says, “and no one would greet us when we got home.”
