Pet’s Place: Baxter Lies Around on the Job
Don’t mind this English bulldog. He just wants to be in your home design photo
On the job: Every day, you’ll find Seaman, an interior stylist and blogger, at home running her site, fittingly called Jane at Home. By her side you’ll find Baxter. “I’ve worked from home for several years,” she says, “so Baxter’s used to being my working buddy and is never far away as I’m working at my computer or taking photos.”
Luckily, Baxter’s not much of a barker, Seaman says, so she doesn’t need to worry about him interrupting her when she’s on a call.
“Baxter’s actually a very important part of my job, because having him nearby keeps me happy and inspired,” she says. “I have to admit I talk to him quite a bit during the day.”

But more often than not, Baxter makes his way into the photo shoot. “Baxter’s appearance in my photos is usually because he happens to be right
in the middle of my shot and I can’t bring myself to make him move,” Seaman says. “But when I actually want him in a photo, that’s when he gets camera shy.”
Pet cleanup: Messes are a part of life, especially with a pet. To keep the house looking great for photos, Jane has a few go-to cleaning options.
If Baxter has any accidents or tracks dirt onto the rugs, Seaman turns to the Bissell SpotBot. For wall and baseboard scuffs, Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser comes to the rescue. For the furniture, she puts slipcovers on the chairs and sofa. “Baxter loves rolling around in the grass and tends to get pretty dirty, so I love having slipcovers on our furniture,” she says. “I simply remove and wash the slipcovers once a month and they come out as good as new.”

Home sweet home: “I think
every house feels more like a home when there’s a pet inside,” Jane says. “Just their presence promotes a peaceful, harmonious atmosphere. I just hope we can bring as much joy to Baxter’s life as he brings to ours!”

Owners: Jane and Dave Seaman
Meet Baxter: Don’t let his grumpy-looking face or proper name fool you; Baxter’s a sweet, laid-back pup, Jane Seaman says. The couple thought the name Baxter sounded British and paired well with his breed. “But I have to admit,” Jane says, “Baxter’s silly personality doesn’t really match up with his refined name and heritage.”
