Great article! Alternatively, with advances in precast GFRC, precast concrete is capable of achieving very large sizes that mimic cast in place slabs while offering more advantages.

  • Wider ranger of colors with a better ability to custom match colors
  • Precast slabs, especially GFRC, are less prone to cracking and are more dense, leading to less water absorption that can cause cracking.
  • Precast slabs arrive on-site already cured and sealed so there is no downtime on-site in waiting for the slab to cure and be sealed.
  • Better consistency in exposed aggregate and etched surfaces.

Just to name a few. This is great for patios, walkways, and pool areas. If you are looking to do a large area in a standard color/broom finish, the cost of precast however may not suite your project.
