2. This bathroom immediately makes you think of the verdant outdoors and natural springs. The large skylight allows sunlight to flood in all day while also giving a sense of openness. The shower area and the sunken bath are surrounded by plants for a tropical effect. The slate tiles on the walls complement the natural look of the area.

3. What makes this bathroom unusual is its flooring – or rather, the lack of it. The pebbles give the area the look of a beach or a brook and the wooden boards and vanity add to the earthy, natural ambience. While the rest of the bathroom dons a classic modern look, the pebbled floor gives the space a touch of raw nature, while the boards add to the natural, rustic vibe. The strategically laid out wooden boards break the monotony of white pebbles and help step over the pebbles and stand without any discomfort.
4. This bathroom embraces the industrial decor style. The antique sewing machine frames under the vanity, the metal sink and mirror-frame, the distressed walls and ceiling, all work together to create a hip grungy interior.

5. The walls in this bathroom are a canvas for kaleidoscopic mural art that recreates a stunning underwater world. The octopus, its satellite sea creatures and the submarine imagery (don’t miss the piratical skull in a corner!) make a variegated and vivid work of art. All this variety is tied together with a periscope-shaped hanging light and porthole windows, which accentuate the oceanworld motif.
6. When a bathroom is shared by three people, it’s best to demarcate spaces to avoid squabbles. The designer has created invisible boundaries in this not-so-huge bathroom by using three pairs of faucets lined up along an extended sink, with the initials of each user pasted on the wall. There are also individual steel holders for toiletries and little mirrors for each person.

7. To bring in the look and feel of a luxurious, close-to-nature spa, the bathtub stands next to a brick wall and a tree, with natural light from above. A sense of indoor-outdoor space is created by juxtaposing these different elements. The sliver of the skylight lets in enough sunshine while ensuring privacy. Behind the sliding doors is also an attached, indoor bathroom.
8. This washroom celebrates the steampunk style – a design genre that marries the industrial age with sci-fi. The dramatic, exposed copper pipes, washbasin and taps stand out against the dark walls and white vanity and WC. The filament bulbs on either side of the mirror lend a soft glow to the otherwise mystic and dark bathroom. The copper pipes are functional but overly exaggerated to go with the theme. It also adds a metallic sheen to an otherwise dark bathroom.
9. A passion for cars is taken to the next level in this bathroom. Instead of wall tiles, a number of car number plates have been stuck on, giving a quirky effect to the space. The round mirror and copper sink, along with the wooden vanity, give brown, dark tones to the room and make a soothing change from the colourful typography filling the room.
10. This bathroom, made with large, natural stones, has an arched roof over the bath section and a dainty copper-framed mirror on the left, giving the area a whimsical look. It almost seems inspired by the Hobbit dwellings in J.R.R. Tolkien’s books – but made for human size!
11. This bathroom is replete with natural elements like concrete flooring, a wooden vanity and a beautiful bamboo-screen partition rather than glass. Not only is bamboo water-friendly, it also adds another textural element to this area.

The colour yellow, with a brush-stroke effect, gives a very lived-in, cosy vibe to the bathroom. Earthy, concrete flooring along with copper and brass lotas and matkas (pots, small and large) contribute to the traditional character of this bathroom.
