Could we maybe do something like this hood over the cooker and then put one of the horse paintings that was left at the house on the shelf with the fireback listed below in the backsplash? color scheme were using in kitchen, green island chalk color perimeters... I think our heart pine floors, soapstone benchtops and quartzite island top will warm up the space a little more than in this pic.

interesting color for cabinets... think it's a bit light for the island and a bit dark for the perimeters though.
The green paint color is by Dunn Edwards - Bijoux Green - DE6266. Such a beautiful, rich color.
Traditional greens. Duller shades of green with a bit of gray mixed in are most at home in traditional interiors. Think pea soup, moss, lichen and misty hillsides. That’s not to say they must be very murky. Take these Shaker-inspired bookcases, for instance — the green is fairly vibrant but just subdued enough to look rich and natural.

I'd like shelves like the ones on the doors here put in the small pantry on the narrow cabinet wall. Like that they have the ability to keep items in place so they don't get knocked off the shelf.
cabinet color - something from the UK called Heritage Sage. Might be good for perimeter cabinets

the shelves on the wall by the window would be good in the small pantry as long as they are deep enough to hold reg size cans (about 6 inches would be good) like that these have dowels to keep things on the shelves

soapstone subway tile backsplash... they are 12x12 tiles cut down to 4x12. where to get 12x12 soapstone tiles.
