For a different approach to sizing your mirror, you can ignore the size of the vanity on its own and instead use the mirror to fill the whole wall, often running above the toilet as well. This approach gives you a larger mirror, which can go a long way toward making a compact bathroom feel twice the size.
An interesting detail in the room transforms the shower into a little steam room. You can open or close the transom above the shower door to manipulate how steamy you want the space to be. To prevent too much moisture from accumulating on surfaces in the room, a small fan near the shower quickly removes the steam.
Navy Find the previous hue a little too blue? A classic navy feels contemporary and unique in glass yet timeless at the same time. At this point, you may be noticing a theme: Blues and blue-greens are definitely popular choices for tinted glass, and for good reason. Cool colors appear fresh and clean, which tends to suit bathrooms. They also don’t date as quickly as hot hues and aren’t as controversial, so they are generally more market-friendly for later resale than, say, a bold orange or a vibrant red.
Electric Blue Want a truly electrifying color? Blue is the best choice for a bold, supersaturated hue because it can be very pure without seeming garish. Set it against a subtly textural tile mosaic to balance out its laserlike vibrancy.
Demure Dark Gray For a sultry look that also adds a better sense of privacy, use a sophisticated dark gray glass. It brings depth to the scheme, and it pairs well with dramatic stone tile with rich gray veining.

What’s more, if you’re installing a frameless glass screen, there will be no visual interruption through the space, and the room will appear larger and brighter — perfect in compact bathrooms where the space is tight or there is no natural light.

The vanity cantilevers out, while the mirror above it has glass mosaic tile down the sides and custom LED light bars hidden behind satin etched glass. Note the way the quartz bench is revealed from outside the shower stall. The shower niche and border at the top of the tile wall are EcoCrush. A separate water closet is on the other side of the bench wall in the shower, separated by translucent glass.
One surprise is that the master bathroom enjoys the most dramatic upstairs view. The large cantilever on the right side of the house you see on the exterior photos is this window behind the bathtub. Translucent glass adds a little privacy at the bottom, and the homeowners have the option of lowering hidden shades when necessary. The shades tuck up into an inch-wide opening in the trim above the windows.
There are no real rules about color, Porter says. One of her clients painted her bedroom a bright red — generally considered to be an invigorating rather than soothing color. While red may cause many people to feel alert when it’s time to be sleepy, “it was very calming to her,” she says. “You really have to know what moves you and not be influenced by what other people like and what other people say.”
Besides being composed of different materials, ceramic tile and the less-glossy cement tile differ in how they are made. Ceramic tiles are factory-made, while cement tiles are, as we have seen, produced by hand.
