Hide the microwave at counter level in a cupboard. The counter space in front of the counter would have to be kept clear so the cupboard door can swing open, but counter space in front of microwave doors is of limited use, anyway, since the microwave doors need to swing open.

Lots to like here: pot rack, floor, clean look, shiny tile walls, shiny black counter, (though a bit too much shiny white which is a little cold for me). I like how the black counter continues all the way along the right side, not ending to allow cupboards to be flush from floor to ceiling. A narrow band of counter runs across the top of a lower cupboard and the bottom of a middle one.)
