Kitchen

When I was shopping for pendants, I looked at the Moroccans, found a few on ebay that were 'reasonably' priced, but didn't pull the trigger on them. I also briefly considered 'Steampunk' but no. I finally settled on the lantern style pendants.
Hubby just installed our island pendants yesterday. I purchased them a year ago, when we signed the paperwork on our new modular home. We changed over from the 'builders basic' to the Angelo Antique Copper Lanterns. Our island is 43"w x 110" long. The lanterns are: 20.5 inches high x 13 inches wide x 13 inches deep And take the E12 40W to 60W bulbs. Right now, we have the E12 LED 60W bulbs in for task lighting over the island since we do alot of baking. And since these were in the kitchen, we didn't install the glass shades. For obvious reasons. I'm inherently lazy. I'm not going to spend everyday or week cleaning the kitchen dirt and grease off of the glass. Nope.

I wanted character. I wanted old world to fit in with a French Country kitchen.

Next DIY project will be installing a marble backsplash and the range vent hood. We've had the 12"x12" marble tiles for over 10 years, looking for the right project, but held off. We sold our old fixer upper home, and custom built a modular home, moving in this past April. We are slowly replacing the builders basic fixtures with those more reflective of our aka my style. We plan on cutting the marble tiles into 3" strips, and placing them on a running bond pattern as a backsplash and above the range to the ceiling before installing our vent hood. We've got a pot filler and I am considering purchasing some marble tiles in a lantern shape to emphasize the pot filler as a feature in that space.
We've replaced the builders basic chandelier with the Cavalier 9 Light Chandelier.:

That's a stock photo. My dining room is a mess right now, so stock photo we go. I have it hanging over my custom Amish built dining table. I had to cash out a pension from a 5 year job in order to purchase that table, china cabinet and bedroom set. But, it perfectly sets the tone of rustic Old World. I have a bench on one side and dining chairs I purchased from a restaurant that was getting rid of their old ones. These have expensive medieval tapestry upholstery, so I couldn't pass them up at $8 each. Their new chairs cost them $3000 each.
Yeah, expensive restaurant.
Bathroom vanity lights are on the backburner, but if I spot something, I'll save it and sell of some more antiques that I've picked up on auction. Yep, I 'flip' vintage items, antiques, books, & collectible items. Our new full length basement now looks like the end scene of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', the warehouse. Endless bins and totes awaiting my search for lost and forgotten treasure.
