Attractive rain chain + exposed steel beams
Near miss on prairie style. Feels unbalanced on the right, main hipped roofs feel like they get too tall.
Just another nice prairie style house :-)
Pro: low pitch roofs Pro: single-story wing with lots of windows Con: not as favorable re: window with shutters + stone wall in the foreground
Pro: roof lines and horizontality Con: massing of two story section + bump out over garage are less interesting
bit more farmhouse than preferred but 'wings' idea, and understated second story
including this for discussion of stucco joints - the geometry of them would be important to us
transition from two story part of house to tall single story is understated
interesting shapes, lots of light
second floor minimized, low pitch simple roof
sheltering eaves
windows under eaves, repeating pattern attractive
sense of minimizing second story, deep eaves, but this is more heavily ornamented than we'd prefer
low roof pitch, private front, more open rear
Pro: shallow roof forms, deep eaves Con: ignoring roofs/eaves, massing is less interesting
Pro: attractive vingette of a sitting porch
Pro: cascading roof forms, deep eaves, shallower roof pitches Pro: mix of one- and two-story forms
Pro: cascading roof forms Con: the two story wall towards the back
Pro: cascading roof forms
Pro: shallow roof pitches, deep eaves
Light, profile, simple roof shapes
Public area with lots of light, eaves, profile
shape, clerestories
Pro: simple roof shapes Pro: deep eaves + windows on the single-story portion Con: shallow eaves + lack of light on two-story portion
lots of light, courtyard
low profile 2 story ;-)
light, low roof pitch
