If one ever lived in Qld or the desert, the idea of a brick screen like this one is great. Halves or more the light/heat coming through and makes a gorgeous pattern in the room. Just be sure to consider what the pattern will look like with the furnishings - looks great here with plain/pale, but if one had eclectic jewel throws everywhere it could be epilepsy inducing.

Breeze blocks are back, so sayeth Brickworks... Love em, but for outdoor rooms that see humans for more than two months a year, one needs to be in Mildura or up and they will need a pressure washer to maintain if outdoors and a maid who is not prone to RSI indoors, although I guess one could spray them with Mortein surface and hope for the best.
