I like this island and this look LJ- The cabinets don't go all the way up but the hood does. This could be a good detail if it's too costly to do the upper glass cabinets. The island is great too but be sure you have the space you need for the bar stools if you do the outer support.

Glass back splash LJ- This is a nice hood detail also in the stainless. The glass tile is pretty but is trendy. I think you'd be better off with a more classic tile. You can also have the quarts as backsplash - just depends if you're looking for a design element there with tile.
