Stairs
This has the cool stairs, but the stringer look on the furthest wall is typical. Not as interesting as either 1) burying the treads and risers into the wall (hardship for drywall guys, and potential maintenance issues for us down the road) or 2) having that stringer be a zig zag shape that reflects the adjacent treads/risers.
If you look very carefully at the wall behind the stairs, you can see a small trim detail along each riser and tread. Imagine if that detail was with wider boards, and squared off / rectilinear, so as to reinforce the cascading look of the wood risers/treads (instead of reinforcing the white stringer of the plane closer to us on the near side of the stairs).
THIS is a good sample of the “zig zag” stringer idea. That being said, while the size is pretty close to right, using the white boards might be too subtle, and too easily confused with floor boards. Perhaps the material needs to match the treads/risers instead to pull that wood color up onto the walls. Might also depend on where we land in terms of railing design (does it have wood on top of the metal, for example?)
