Looking to do something similar. We purchased a cabin in Blue Ridge and one wall of great room has this type of look, but not nearly as nice, and I'd like to paint all bedrooms this way. Thanks for answering.
Take a few scap boards and work with the paint color you like. Start by "cutting" the paint with water ( as long as it is water based paint ) and apply to the board. Keep cutting the paint until you reach the desired opacity once dried. It may take several tries to reach the desired look. Good luck and post some photos of your finished project.
