From your idea book, I see you like very modern houses. Is this going to be built in India? I found a one floor layout that might work for you and you could do the exterior to your taste. But I have to say, you should look for professional help in India. I imangine code requirements and material are much different there. Search the internet for modern and contemporay house plans. Thank you. Point noted. I will remember that while we choose our decor so that i mix and match a little to break the monotony of the theme. I forgot to mention- there is one other reason why we settled for the no-false ceiling decision. I love the height of the ceiling and the ample natural light in the room. We did not want to cut off few inches by adding a false ceiling. We might add a portion of wooden ceiling perhaps if we feel that might be good, in future. But as of now is there no other option to make the room look complete, without the false ceiling I mean? Perhaps solid or textured paints-light reflecting colors on the ceiling or something like that... and getting back to the topic of false ceiling, are there options that can be added without reducing the height of the room? Because the two options that the designers gave me are wooden panels or POP wherein close to 1/2 feet is lost totally.

The electrician and false ceiling folks I've engaged are very competent, and are going to take care of installing the ceiling fans (of any type or kind I buy). My only task is to find and procure appropriate fans. Regarding the loss of about 10" due to the false ceiling: I only did a simple rectangular tray drop design for lights (approx 4-6"); however, the original ceiling was not straight, and approx 2-3" extra went in straightening it at the tray edges. Since the ceiling seems (perceived) low, I do not want to make it look lower visually. I am looking for fans that will be as close as possible to the false-ceiling without effecting its sweep functionality or energy efficiency. Any suggestions on where I can get good ceiling fans in Bangalore (all brands and varieties under one roof)? I would also like to see/consider the options you've mentioned (special fan like flush fan or ceiling swing fans). Where can I see/procure these in Bangalore? Thanks!

Hi Rishab, You can avoid creating 4" false ceiling and create 1.5 / 2" false ceilings just to let the wires hide and run within the false ceiling. I will not recommend conduits or exposee ceiling unless you wish to do a rustic interior design. You can go for Surface mounted lights and track lights. They are beautiful and are available in different shapes and sizes too.
