Comments (66)OK... but the wire wont be lower as it is fixed now. The wire in the pics below is the wall facing each other. They were leveled on equal height but the beam on one wall makes it seem a little above. But i think you guys are absolutely right that up and down lights wont look good there. I think you are right about down lights lessismoore. Would it look good if i go with two different lights on opposite walls??? it would look odd right....See MoreWhich flooring (marble/granite/tile) is better for my house which is b
Comments (11)I have tumbled travertine (basically a form of marble) in the master bedroom and a marble mosaic in the master bath. It is higher maintenance. It stains and it wears differently in different areas. I am not doing natural stone in my new home. There are some fantastic tiles now that mimic all the stones, and a good quality porcelain tile will be very durable. Some ceramic wall tiles are "weaker" but I have had excellent luck with porcelain tile. Granite floors. Sure. But as people have said they also require maintenance like periodic sealing etc. In a house that size you don't want a different kind of floor in every room. I would stick to one or perhaps two types of floor tile in the main rooms. You can get away with additional types on walls in the bathrooms but I would keep the floors consistent. As far as cost goes, there is a very broad range of tiles and stones. In my shopping I have found some very good high quality floor tiles for reasonable prices. Stone has priced out higher...at least the ones I have looked at. Good luck!...See Moreflat design
Comments (4)Design of any house or building depends on different factors: Sun path at that location, which affects ambient daylight - What moods would you like in that room? Would you not like to place you walls/windows/chajjas/fins to design your mood using that sun-path? Would you not like to keep away the summer sun and let inside the winter morning sun-rays? Natural Wind direction at site; like pt 1 - would you not like the natural wind to work for you? Available Structural opportunities - in your case if it's an apartment in an already constructed building, how do we use existing column-beams efficiently? Or if it's a building, are there any soft spots which may be risky for placing columns? What's nearby? What privacy levels would you like in what space? You would certainly not like your bedroom voices to be heard from the corridor outside, and you would need good light in both the bedroom as well as the corridor. How do you that? It is this reason that there cannot be a standard plan for any and every site, and why a Bachelor's of Architecture happens to be a 5 year course. Ideally, it is the duty of an Architect to consider all the above factors while suggesting a design. Over time, different architects develop their own style, which becomes the identity of the house/building to be handed down over generations....See MoreVastu Shastra - Can someone give tips to design a home
