Building a Home Paint Furniture

Need help with door finish material

I got the doors built in teak wood with simple design having 3mm horizontal grooves. The initial plan was to paste MDF on the door and use PU (Asian Paints Emporio Matt) paint for the finish. Then I got to know that the labour cost is ₹350/- and it requires highly skilled labour. Now I want to use something other than Pau just to avoid any hassle and untoward consequences. What are my options? Here is a photo of the door. Pls help! Thanks!

Wondering if the plan was to do a PU paint anyways why would you have a teak door anyways.

Please don't compare with PU finishes but you can also go with a matt polish without stain or Satin Enamel paint on MDF.

Hi Nitish, the door looks fabulous. If it's a solid teak wood and you want to cut the cost try Danish oil 3- 4 coat and watch videos on linseed oil, etc too. I would recommend Melamine on it for which we usually charge Rs175/sqft. which includes labour and material. In case you want PU we can do it for Rs350/sqft including material.

So much can happen on an exterior...trim, exposed rafters, doors, windows, siding, stone, brick, stucco, roofing, gutters and downspouts....hire an architect or a design/build firm to help answer these questions prior to building....like hiring an interior designer for help with furniture, these professionals will help decide the style of the exterior of the house and how that style interacts with the function of the house.

We have recently finished the two and a half storey structure of bungalow. In the ground floor, there are guest room, kitchen and living cum dining room with a space for upstairs. It is a duplex concept house. Also in the first floor we out master bed room, children's room, parent room, family lounge, study room and a pantry. From the first floor is the gazebo entry with front facing. All the rooms have attached baths and toilets except the study, pantry and family lounge. The second floor has laundry room, spa room and a big prayer room( ibadat khana). Please help to decide on the window and door style and sizes that looks beautiful in such structures. Thanks One Plan for your recommendation. Would it be good to go for Herringbone pattern in hallway and in the open plan vinyl straight planks and then matching tile in the decking area. We have shortlisted karndean vinyl for open plan (Von Gogh Distressed Oak) althought not sure. Also what type of anti-slip material should I go for if I had to matching wooden look vinyl ?

Wooden polish or Decopaint are other options. If you want you can also do economically with enamel paint

Thank you for the suggestions. We have decided to go with Indian PU paint with teak finish in Matt. We want to preserve the teak look and also want the finish to last at least 10 years. We received a lot of suggestions, majority of them suggesting with go with PU. We bargained and finalized the rate at 225 per sq ft.

Not sure if I understand it correctly. You want to go with Teak color PU paint in matt texture. How does that retains the real teak look. Can you get a sample and may be share the pic pls.
