Hello all, I am pretty confused on size of wooden plank tiles to be used for herringbone floor. Floor size is 12'x12' Does 8x48 plank tile be suitable for herringbone pattern floor.
You cannot used standard planks to make a herringbone design. The modern wooden planks, whether they are engineered or solid, are made with tongue and notch mechanism, where they are locked with each other and not nailed onto the floor (in India)
So if you want herringbone, you will need the tongue and notch on two adjacent sides. So search for herringbone flooring, and you can choose the plank size you want.
Hey thank you for your reply! Actually I am intending to use wood style vitrified tiles which are notched and comes in standard sizes like 6x36, 8x48 or so. That why I have dought about the appearance of it in a room of 12'x12' size.
Aah! Okay! makes sense. Well, it depends on how you want the room to look. Bigger planks in a smaller room will make the room appear larger. If you want to see how it will look in context of your furniture, you can look at free online 2D softwares for floor plans. and place the flooring and furniture. I have a few guides that I am prepping on using online softwares. let me know if you need one and i can expedite it!
