Flooring Design Dilemma

Floors to be installed

I am installing a granite floor in my kitchen laundry and entry room. I am told that they will be higher than my hardwood by a half an inch to one inch. I think that will bother me. Is that right? I had that issue in my bathroom also when they laid a new floor.

Hi,
In case if the installation is done over the existing floor then there will be a significant increase in height as you mentioned. Whereas if you replace the tile with the stone then the level shall not increase more than 1/4".

Hi

If granite flooring is higher than hardwood flooring theres concern of water spilling on wooden floor area.

Yes, it will be. Because of the thickness of granite and screed thickness. You can have a matching tile similar to granite, to minimize the difference.
