Comments (6)My office is slightly smaller 12x20. I have 4 cans on a grid in the four corners (roughly 30" out from the wall). With a desk lamp - I have plenty of light. Thinking about a ceiling fan and bed lamps. You should have way more light than you need for a bedroom. If possible switch the 2 cans along the wall (which are your pathway to the bath) on a separate switch and 3 way them to your bed and next to the bath. It sounds like the can above the bath door will work for the outside door as well. You can add a light to reach in closets ((We do a flat strip light mounted inside, over the closet door). Most fans have a handheld remote control. You can 3 way the 2 lights on the opposite wall to the door and bedside as well. With 9 ft ceilings- you won't have enough light for reading, but the table laps or wall mounted lamps will be useful there....See MoreAny suggestion
Comments (44)You could also bring in some texture with bamboo sticks or decorative branches and help balance a bit the height of your room with small scale furniture. Spray paint them if you find the perfect size and shape but they aren't the color that you need. Ikea carries white decorative stalks for a very good price. the ones in the 1st picture hold well with small kids around and you don't need a vase for them. there are washi paper or crinkly paper floor lamps with a soft beautifully diffused glow For a budget friendly version check ikea or target http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80028552/...See MoreMy home project
Comments (4)As hatetoshop mentioned , moving the bed to the gap between two window is would be right choice. as in current placement you have windows above your head which does not help for a view and looks odd. you could place double curtain rod or use existing curtain rods and add additional sheer /thin curtains for additional privacy during day as well as light. In future you can add two bedside tables as well and some bedside lamps. In India we are still not used to lower lighting (floor lamps, table lamps with warm day light bulbs) but trust me,it will add new dimension to your bedroom. Also some wall art. example a well framed big size ( 2ft * 3ft) art poster above bed (cheap way to add life (I wont use word "Class" (find it too much)) . Also in future you can think about having a pair of bed sheet (to sleep on ) and bed cover/spread (a good quality cotton one) to cover the mattress during day. And a dhurrie runner would be a good addition as well. All above wont cost too much and maybe little bit investment in quality material can be good as well as u don't have to change these often and can be a long term solution....See Morewant suggestion
Comments (3)My first suggestion would be to change the layout of the room at bit. this is my suggestion:i also think that you should paint the room in a uniform light colour (preferable white) and also paint the wardrobe in the same colour so it doesn't overpower the entrance and blend in with the room. my second most important suggestion is to increase storage. here are some ideas for that: simple plank shelves with filing boxes and folders with labels can be a cheap and efficient way of storage of study material. here are some links for such folders and boxes: https://www.amazon.in/Elan-Bookshelf-Executive-Certificates-Certificate/dp/B00HWRHKOS/ref=pd_sbs_79_11?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=BQE8PBQNYQYXHHDEBAVQ https://www.amazon.in/Corpac-Multipurpose-Durable-Plastic-Storage/dp/B01GBBHT1E/ref=pd_sbs_229_40?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=1CC92M79MCJDPWBD53H9 https://www.amazon.in/Aristo-Basket-Medium-Without-Multi/dp/B06WGR811H/ref=pd_sim_229_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JD75V1WW64930CV4NG69 Also the sunlight is the biggest asset of the room and yet the aluminium window is an eyesore. so i would suggest some nuetral shade curtains. and you can play with the colors of the room with the bedsheets. And agree with studio chippan's suggestion of a painting or a family portrait or frame certificates of the kids achievements. Best of Luck, Purva Saksena (Architect)...See MoreSmallbath5
