is COB led lights good for residential use?
Comments (8)Hello, Firstly I would like to talk to you about COB lights. I personally think it is way better than panel lights because the more recessed the light source is; The more it is hidden to the Naked eye. The same also features some architectural lighting benefits too Were you could choose the beam angle so that a specific Area Is highlighted. Secondly your query about yellow, light yellow and white light Which are basically known as warm neutral and cool light. The truth is warm is the most preferred colour around the globe as it instantly makes A place feel Cosy and also brings out the richness in colours and also gives out a more relaxed feel to the eye. But basically we have been mostly drawn to white tube lights in the past and our human nature have adjusted to it and prefers the same in simulated environment. There is also some basic science to this matter. As in western countries people live in Cooler climates. When they get back home at evening or at night the warm tone of light gives them a sense of warmth-ness, Similarly as our country is very close to the equator and has this summer tropical climate when we get back to our homes the Cooler tune of light gives us a sense of coolness. Please do not worry but it is said that LED lights which are closer to the blue tone is considered a bit on the harmful side so I would suggest you to go for neutral or warm light or a mix of both. P.S. I have personally used COB recessed lights for a whole residential project complemented with other layering of light such as hidden cover light and different lamp light sources....See Moreceiling lights without false ceiling
Comments (9)I Understand. That's a common concern with my clients. But if you choose to have a 3-inch false ceiling, it will not kill the height. you need a minimum of 3 inches for the electrical conduits to pass. And as for the unhygienic environment, it is only created if you have a tray ceiling for cove light. If you install a plain ceiling after a thorough cleaning, there will be no hygiene problem. I hope this helps you all the best...See Morelighting for false ceiling

Comments (8)Koel - I'm facing a similar problem. I don't want a false ceiling, even the most simple one, because of the following cons: 1. Decrease in natural ventilation: A false ceiling reduces the ceiling height. Taller ceilings allow more natural light and airflow. Even a 6-inch drop is a bummer. 2. No added aesthetics: The concrete ceiling we have is already super smooth and has a flawless finish. 3. No functional value if you don't need much AC time: I live in Bangalore, and there is hardly a summer. Even though I am on the top floor, the roof has white tiles, and even in summer, the house doesn't get warm. I hate the overuse of ACs because of the environmental concerns too. So, I don't see any functional value in a false ceiling for me. 4. Recessed can light casts terrible shadows: The small lights hidden inside the false ceilings are more like focussed lights because only the bottom is exposed. I hate the coarse light they create. 5. Groove for cove lights is an avenue for dust: A cove light with a groove will provide soft and even lighting, but, living in India, dust is everywhere, I and I prevent any hidden spots for dust collection. This is more of a health concern. However, my builder didn't provide many wire points in the ceiling, and with the fans in place, only one point is left for lights in the living room ceiling. I just need a few more points in the ceiling to add a few pendant lights and directed spotlights to create a calming light with a few highlights on some wall hangings. If you want some nice-looking lighting setup without a false ceiling, there are some fixtures that make the wires visible as a part of their design. These are some Nordic minimal style light fixtures, and they are available in Ikea. You can explore them. I have one more year to go, and I am keen on finding more lighting hacks to avoid a false ceiling....See More- 5 years ago
