I would take your dimensions to a local cabinetry supplier and have them draw up custom built-ins for you. My best guess would be it would cost you around $3500 to have installed. If that is too high a price point for you, then grab an Ikea catalogue, see what configuration you can get in that space. ALSO, you could put a slider door going across the entire area (last photo) not sure what the door beside the cubby/desk area is - but slider would have to go over top of that as well. Organize it well, put lots of thought into it so your not regretting having done something before you invest! Good Luck

Less is more. I'd say go with two shelves above your desk only - and go all the way across (not partially). Think baskets to store things you don't have storage space for, books you love to browse through, and maybe a few ceramic vases. You could also paint the back wall of the nook out in a color and then put all your white and brown accessories in front. That will look really dynamic without getting a million different pieces in different colors. Choose a paint color that accents the room's decor (can't see the rest of the room). Or, even more fun, would be a graphic wallpaper on the back wall, maybe a color with white print on top, then use white shelving and place your objects on top! Hope that helps inspire you a bit.

Hi Zukanya, simply re-aligning your shelves and painting the back wall with the red-ish color of your chair would be really cost effective but dramatic as well.

i would say, choose a theme just for that space and work around it!
for example: maybe "asian" theme!
paint the back wall RED or ORANGE, have a piece of buddha statue on the top most rack, you can use one shelve to just hold books with some decorative book ends, and instead of the chair, you can use the asian trunck boxes (if you google for asian trunks, you can see what i am talking about! - look for square boxes), this way, you can also tuck those boxes under the desk/shelf when not in use and the trunk could also be a storage for your files - you can also place a floor vase with some bamboo sticks - the asian theme would really work here as your wood is black/brown
this would also turn out to be a peaceful writing space - enjoy!
