softyjain, If the windows need to be replaced I recommend looking at fixed steel to maintain the narrow profile of the windows and small window lites. Using fixed instead of operating will be a cost savings if you don't need to open them. Another option for hanging from the ceiling is a decorative light or chandelier. Hi drmdilip -- While I waited for my trumpet vines to fill in sufficiently to provide summer shade, I sewed three matching striped shower curtains together, using the button holes on each end to tie it in place. I did this because as the vine was growing new, each thin runner would drop between the rafters rather than grow straight across. After a few years now, those thin runners have become a massed layer of thick vines, all of the new growth is straight up and by the end of summer I'll be able to easily remove my temporary support and have a roof of vines. It's not rainproof though -- for that, polycarb is practical, and I love the copper above!

this is a never ending battle between functionality and aesthetics! :D Well , IMO the drawing seems pretty functional and you can get good use out of it. however, if you think it looks too boxy then a good option would be to play around with different materials and textures to give it some character. For example, you can use tinted mirror shutters, or a tinted glass back panel to break the monotony. 3D charcoal sheets are good option for the shutters and drawers fascias. you can even have it painted in a variety of colours (a glossy or matte PU finish in a bright colour or texture such as blue or mustard). You can even use a wine rack fitted on top and the top open shelves can be modified a bit in a criss cross way to store bottles. add some live plants or creepers too. Hope this helps...cheers! :)

In these options, i would go for Red River Hickory. But the colours of the kitchen are too similar, since the cabinets are a warm colour, look for something cool for the flooring. You could go for a dramatic black or a dark brown to add some dimension. Otherwise everything just fades into one another!
