Flooring Design Dilemma Corridor

1930s hallway tiles

Does anyone have any design tips for a late 1930s house? I want to put some original features back in or at least give a nod to the era. Is parquet flooring the best option for the hallway or could I do tiles? I don’t want to get it wrong and go for Victorian so thinking black and white reclaimed tiles if this is true to the 30s but I’m not sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

Use matt porcelain. Most colors and/or pattern could do. Add a charcoal/black edge (and perhaps one row of those for baseboards) to give it that 30s feel. True terrazzo would look great, but is expensive (and messy to have installed), fortunately it comes in tile too. Portuguese patterns look great too. What looks and feel would you like the house to have? Favourite colors? Styles? Materials?

Having vitrified tiles in any space is a good idea if you are concerned about durability and/or staining. The polished look, however, is a matter of taste. They offer a very elegant classic look. Staying consistent with your flooring choices will ensure your design looks complete and cohesive. If you have wood or carpet the polished look shouldn't be a problem. Hello , Jaisalmer stone is commonly found in yellow color, and less frequently with creamish and pinkish tinge. It's quite durable and adds a modern uncommon touch to the place.
