How to use a wooden wall in the kitchen?

I’m thinking of creating a wooden wall as a partition between a hall and kitchen, but I have a bit of a concern. The kitchen will be in heavy use and the floor will frequently be quite dirty. If it is regularly cleaned with water, wouldn’t that ruin the base of the wooden wall?

I thought I would add a 4-inch skirting at the base of the wall, but unfortunately the flooring is already done in the flat and I won’t find the same tile for use with the skirting. I am also not sure how I would get the tile to adhere to the wood even if I could find it.

Can someone help me with this? Perhaps my fears are unfounded, or maybe there’s a better way to protect the wood than a tile skirting?
