Living room makeover stumped on completion
This living room had been dark, red walls, no ceiling lights, old flowered furniture. Now we've refinished the floors, added recessed lights, painted walls and ceiling, bought sectional sofa, ottoman, TV and console. Went with navy drapes and accent pillows. Simple greys in rug... but, so afraid of cluttering walls as I usually do! Need wallhanging ideas AND advice on what to do in far corner behind sofa... feel I need something at a different height to offset all the 'level' furniture. Need another lamp or two. Maybe bench seat under front window? Colors not really showing well due to blinding snow outside today! Thank you!

Comments (9)1). Plz remove the TV panel, its breaking the space on the wall, apply a wall paper or texture on the entire wall, add a self b/w TV n base unit, use conduit to conceal all wires. 2). Curtains till skirting level both on windows n doors is much needed of. Don't keep shear fabric curtains only on windows. Comments (15)Hi Anindita, You can actually give the foyer with wardrobe a somewhat mud room kind of look. Add a closed shoe-rack right between the door and wardrobe (slim enough to accommodate opening main door and wardrobe door comfortably). Put a vase with paper flowers really bright colored(Orange or yellow) on the shoe-rack. A Ottoman next to it (in bold print) and by a tall plant (like royal/lobster claw plant) on the open end (end facing the living room). The wardrobe doors can be covered with quirky funky posters/decals of anything you like.. fav. rock bands..attitude quotes..wanderlust places..or just color blocking diy on paper. I think you can safely stick paper paintings/posters using two-way tape. Something on the lines of......... On the wall adjacent to wardrobe, add a really nice looking hanging hooks and hang a mix of hats, jhola bags & any quirky art or any hanging indoor planter. Add a area rug (toward the living room) to give some definition and such that it would look all in place when viewed form inside the house. P.S. Comments (24)Dear Vinod, That's what happens when you give a project to a carpenter cause they view it as the single element and can't imagine where and how it is going on with the space around. "They literally don't care" except the money they save in that project. As the wardrobe is glossy and dark gray you have to make-over everything in that room to makle it look better. So better go for removing it which is more economical, and if your wardrobe is done with solid wood or timber just go for wood finish paints (veener/varnish/some other) or else go for duco paint or any other that can be applied on it. But BETTER consult a Designer or an Architect to those kind of works not carpenter or some vender. And lastly remove that funky looking overhead outcrop.
