Painting dilemma

Hello Experts,

Please could you help with my painting related dilemma?

I am looking for a modern/clean look for my 3BHK apartment.

1) Should I go for Asian Paints Premium Emulsion or Royale Emulsion or Royale Matt or Royale Aspira (where looks, quality, longevity, etc are more important than the pricing)? Is Asian Royale Aspira too shiny/glossy? Is there any reference picture/s showing the difference between these various paint types?

2) My flooring is glossy white tiles with grey/cool undertones. If I want to paint my walls and ceilings in white color (predominantly), then what Asian colors/codes would you recommend?

Hello Sansapt,

Basically, it is not the price difference between the different paint types that matter much. It is the respective preparation required for these is what is makes them costlier/cheaper.

Premium paints highlight even minor undulations in the walls (more than the regular ones). So, they require a lot of prep work before the painting even starts.If your putty and primer work are done thoroughly using premium paints would make sense. Otherwise a regular emulsion would give better results.

Sheen in paints is often misunderstood with gloss. You won't see a reflection even if it's an aspira. We personally prefer Aspira because we are lucky to have thorough painters team. If you have any doubt go for Royale matt, as a safer bet.

Color choice is very individualistic and you are a better judge. Your designer, would know your taste and would recommend you a suitable choice. Asian paints also offer a free consultancy. Please use that. PS: Not a big fan of their express painting service though.

On your paint problem I can't be much help. This usually happens because of damp -- please get a damp expert to make sure that there isn't any damp lurking in your walls. I had this once when I had pipes leaking inside the walls. I didn't know that. The other alternative is something like painting before the plaster is dry or some kind of chemical mismatch. I do know you will have to scrape all the mucky powdery stuff away and start again, at least on those areas. Don't try to seal and prime and repaint until you know exactly what the problem is and how to fix it.

Dear Crazyjunglite, please let me add some ideas for your space. I beleive that a nice combination of two curtains like the one with the blue and peach double curtains in the picture, will give you an eclectic feeling that matches to your painting. The combination of colors that I suggest is this blue with brown flares and the cream-peach taffetas, and the soft cream sheer behind. Hi Rose. So sorry to have been absent for so long -- I lost internet connection for a solid week. Tore all my hair out, and now this bald lady is saying that the angel above would make a good fifth element, I think, if it's the right size (not too big). It you are considering purchase, try to borrow it first to see. Otherwise, put something in roughly the same size and shape -- scrumpled up paper can work -- in that position. Trust your eye as you did so well with the start of the vignette. I would prefer your original arrangement, with that, to the the second arrangement, in which I think the white is too stark, and the colour too bright. You want a feeling of age and patina, which is what you have in the first arrangement. Also, in the second arrangement, the clock and the couple are overwhelmed by the bright white. My thought about the lace runner is not unconnected with Decoenthusiaste's comment above. I don't think your items are too feminine, but perhaps underscale. But adding a large item won't help; a runner could, by enlarging the footprint (base area).

Thank you @Nitin (Cornerstone Designs). I've decided to go with Asian Aspira.
By the way, Asian paints are no longer providing a free consultation/quotation (they have introduced a Rs 200 charge this).

That meager amount are the charges for visiting your place, personalized consultation from an expert is valued much more. I think that's a great gesture from the company and one should give it a try.
