Islands do add glamour to kitchen spaces but some people would rather have an open airy space to groove to their playlist while cooking (yes, that would be me)! So which one are you? Comment and tell us!

We are renovating our kitchen and I can’t decide if I should put the sink on the kitchen island as opposed to the back wall near the stove where of course there is no possibility of a window. I have always had a window so I’m not sure if in the long run I would miss it. The other option would be to remove the large window 7’ x 5’5” and put a smaller window so that I can put the sink on that side. The designer is saying that the sink in the island would be better just in terms of added cost and I would lose a lot of pantry space if we went the replacement window route. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Pencil interiors, 12x14 is by no means a snall kitchen space. An island of decent size can be accommodated unless floor plan has some typical challenges . Thanks, Nitin Cornerstone Designs, Bangalore

Hello Joya, Kitchen is one place where your inputs should be based on the outputs you want. Island requires at least 30" of moving space, so if its available you can surely opt for that . Or else list out your requirements and divide cooking area, wet area and dry counter and proceed accordingly. You can contact us for the same.
