Hi Alice, you start with practicalities: do you need privacy? Do you need insulation? Do you need blackout curtains/blinds? Do you need protection from sun?
Then there is the size of the window that you need to take into consideration (width, height) and if there is something in front of the window (radiator, sofa, etc).
Answering these questions will narrow down your options quite a bit.
Once you are clear on the practicalities you need to decide the style you are looking to create in the room: contemporary, period, cottage, etc. This wil further narrow down your options on window dressing style, fabric and colour.
I agree with Aaltonen Interiors. You have posted a a photo of a beautiful bathroom. If that is like the room you are working on, then you would also consider the humidity in a bathroom and how that affects your selection. Would you open and close the treatment daily? Can you reach it around the tub or do you need something that can be motorized?
You should find a local window treatment studio to consult with. The window treatment professional has the knowledge to ask the right questions and lead you to the perfect product for your window. They can keep your from making costly mistakes!
