A comprehensive approach to design and implementation of the plans would benefit you in this case. A team of interior designer, contractor and possibly architect (if walls are moving or there is a more involved construction plan beyond decorating what is there and dealing with functional issues related to the interior design). Sequencing of trades and scheduling is the job of the contractor while providing costs for the implementation of design work. Designing and dreaming up solutions is the job of the architect and interior designer. As others have said, it depends on the space. As a child I loved velvet flocked because it was so "touchable" LOL! In my extended family we tend to use the velvet flocked in dining rooms, the foil in bathrooms, and a high quality wallpaper in other rooms. The design is totally reliant upon the space it is being used in. In our Victorian farmhouse most of the rooms have the big roses or hydrangeas appropriate to the period. good morning Rajbir kapur, instead of having a colured wardrobe try a mirrored wardrobe that will reflect and make your room look larger. but if u want a colour to go with ur walnut furniture then go for a beige or off white( creamish) laquer finish on the wardrobe beautiful in look and easy to clean. nowadays u can get wood panelling done on mica sheets . get a beige or fawn or off white colour mica done on your wardrobe( the doors etc) also the bathroom door do the same as ur wardrobe. .. wood panelling looks great behind the bed ( on the whole wall) but u already have dark walnut doors so u can just add panels of the wardrobe colour on the doors ( as in continuity contrast) . place your tv on a wall paper done up wall, or the wood panelling, or go for beige coloured stony brick wall behind the tv. will break the rooms colour cordination and make it look wonderful. have abstract or straight sleek cabinets below the tv. using the same laquer finish ( like on the wardrobe) hope these lil tips help u rajbir ji :)

Hi Nadia, Using different design styles for interiors has two consequences - 1] You may end up with a poor patchwork reminiscent of a interior design showroom. 2] You may end up with a perfect blend of eclecticism. Avoid giving each room a different look as this will not only break the continuity of the space but will be visually overwhelming. Instead try to blend. This way you will maintain a visual connectivity of different spaces and the entire home would look balanced and cohesive even on being eclectic. You may achieve this by using the following tips: 1] Use a colour palette that suits the theme. You may use neutrals all the way and splash a bit of colour in on a wall or two just to highlight. These walls may be the ones in your foyer or passage or balcony or simply behind the sofa or TV unit etc. Remember that the colour is being used as a highlighter so place it judiciously. 2] Each design style comes with a set structure and rules hence, use an interpretation of design styles and not the styles as they are. This will allow you to make decisions flexibly as there will be lesser restraint. 3] Have a clear control on the aesthetic. Minimize, dont overdo, else the space will look like a museum and not a home. 4] Make judicious use of furniture. Use colonial designs for all your loose furniture like chairs, end tables etc. Keep your beds and sofas clean and contemporary. Add eclectic cushions. 5] Use furnishings wisely - american pleat curtains in pastel hues, damask/textured wallpapers, natural fabrics like linen, silk etc for upholstery. Add a bit of greenery in the form of plants. 6] Use natural stones for flooring (rustic tiles would also do) with motif tiles to highlight spaces like the kitchen, bathroom wall or foyer floor.
