You might consider painting the door and trim white, then choosing a nice paint color for the walls. That would be much more dramatic and interesting than painting a door (which would then not match the trim and other doors in your abode-I'm assuming they're all white?)

The type of door for bathroom is usually in my experience is a hollow core pre-hung door. Depending on your budget this is the way to go for they are inexpensive. But, for privacy reasons, install a solid core door or a door that does not transmit sound readily. Whoops :)))

That is poor design and IMO you should look into having the bathroom redone so door doesn ot open into LR.
