Hi, love the Qld spotted gum it looks great. Was it a select or standard grade? What sort of finish did you use? Any information you can give me would be helpful. Thanks
Thank you for your query. Yes, you can't beat solid Spotted Gum. In this instance, my preferred timber supplier, Mark of European Wood Flooring supplied and laid feature/standard grade 130x14 solid spotted gum. The feature grade works beautifully in large spaces. For the natural finish (always my preference for practicality and durability) his first 2 coats are polyurethane and final coat is waterbased satin, sanded between coats.
Further to the above... the timber specie is QLD spotted gum (rather than NSW). QLD Spotted Gum has more variation and, in my opinion, a bit more interest than the NSW version (which looks really nice though in smaller spaces).
