Need help for my wierdly designed living room

Hello Friends,

I have bought a small new apartment and am looking for help on furnishing and designing my living room. I am complete new to this stuff and need your ideas. I am attaching an image of my living room layout, it would be great if somebody can suggest good furniture placements for this kind of a layout!

P.S. - The window and door on the right hand side are balcony facing and the door on the 15 ft wall is the main entrance to the house.

I suggest this layout as it creates a functional 'entry' to this space and maximizes comfortable seating. Good luck!

I have to set up my New Living cum Dining room. Drawing is as attached. I do not have a sofa and I do not plan to buy any. Instead, I will prefer to buy some light weight chairs. I already have a 6 seater Dining table, a single bed and 3 old trunks of my MIL which I plan to put somewhere in this room and cover up with some padding above it and a good bed cover or Table cover. This is in context to my Living Room for apt. which is technically one single large hall , But within this same space , we are looking to create three seperate spaces , i;e Main Living room , Dining Room & family living room. Is it advisable for me to go for elevated areas ,for each of the spaces. If yes , then I would like to go in the ascending order as stated , or maybe I should go for a single elevated area, which practically seperates the Main living from the other two. Also to note , that since its an apt. the ceiling height is not much. All the help appreciated!!

If the Deck is opening to a pleasant view, your current space planning seems to be wasting a good opportunity. Why is the dining so disconnected from the Kitchen? @edwards4four Firstly thank you for coming forward to help me on this..

Coming to your question, I don't have any furniture at hand right now so it'll be all new. And having a TV in living space is desirable, but if you can suggest some really nice alternative then please go ahead. I am open to all options.

P.S. - Builder is giving a power point near for TV on the 7 ft wall opposite to 15 ft wall, but I feel it is at an awkward corner might not be useful to keep TV over their. Please let me know your thoughts.

Suggest sofa on long wall with a slim console table behind it. A comfy reading chair and reading lamp and small table on wall where door opens to balcony, and tv on the 7 foot wall adjacent to sofa. Another option may be a l-shape sofa with the tv on 7 foot wall as the builder suggested. If no tv in room opt for a bookcase to show your collections where tv could be placed. So please ask your builder to provide sufficient power along the 7' wall opposite the balcony as my sketch shows. The space is really too limiting to have the TV only on the wall where I am showing art.

Edwards4's layout might work, but the seating is pretty limited and most of the room is circulation space. Plus it's focused away from the window. You would get more seating by putting a sectional in the corner, maybe with a small end table by the entrance door and a coffee table. The TV could go at the left end of the 7 ft. wall at the top, closest to the seating. If it were on a small table it could be angled toward the seating. Both walls above the sectional could have artwork.

I think I am certainly quite late to reply on this post but nevertheless will put my suggestions here. Go for 2 loveseats in a light/neutral colour against the 7 ft and 15 ft wall. Opposite the 15 ft wall you could put a nice upholstered bench in contrast/printed fabric. Also for a warm glow put a nice standing lamp in the corner between both sofas. You can place a nice mirror on the TV wall and put a nice shelf beneath it and place a lamp there with few knick knacks if the door opens outside in the balcony or is sliding. Also, keep two upholstered ottomans below the mirror which can be pulled for extra seating when required. Place a low height coffee table small one like a 2x2 ft.

Hi,

You can put a sectional sofa along the 15ft wall, and you can have a slim console table against the original tv wall & keep the TV on a stand so that you can swivel it whenever you want.

Make the TV wall stand out with a nice wallpaper or a diffpercent paint colour.

Hang a piece of art complementing the decor or the TV wall( in case you go for a different color).

You can get a centre table and a pair of end tables for each side of the sofa. Moreover if you could just change the direction in which your main door opens you can have privacy when you have guests or watching TV as it will open on the side of the sofa.
