Wallpaper never really went "out". I love it in the right space. Just too easy now to slap a coat of paint on the wall and not worry about design or patterns. Entryways are a perfect place to use it. Smaller area, no furniture to match and gives texture and interest to the space.

Metallic is in style now.

When I did my shopping for wallpaper, I visited SW paint store and there were several small wallpaper shops in my area. I agree that having the books at home with the samples really helps.

having arthritis in my hands, doing a rough search online was a real wonder. i narrowed it down to 5 choices and went to my wallpaper store to look at the books, chair fabric samples in hand. my #1 choice online ended up being perfect in reality, and i didnt have to carry a single book back and forth. paint to co ordinate has to be done in your home tho.

actually, i think i got the arthritis from schlepping wallpaper books around back in the 80s. ; )

I think you'd be hard pressed to convince anybody that wallpaper is, in itself, dated. Of course, tastes and patterns change...
