Which flooring (marble/granite/tile) is better for my house which is b
Comments (11)I have tumbled travertine (basically a form of marble) in the master bedroom and a marble mosaic in the master bath. It is higher maintenance. It stains and it wears differently in different areas. I am not doing natural stone in my new home. There are some fantastic tiles now that mimic all the stones, and a good quality porcelain tile will be very durable. Some ceramic wall tiles are "weaker" but I have had excellent luck with porcelain tile. Granite floors. Sure. But as people have said they also require maintenance like periodic sealing etc. In a house that size you don't want a different kind of floor in every room. I would stick to one or perhaps two types of floor tile in the main rooms. You can get away with additional types on walls in the bathrooms but I would keep the floors consistent. As far as cost goes, there is a very broad range of tiles and stones. In my shopping I have found some very good high quality floor tiles for reasonable prices. Stone has priced out higher...at least the ones I have looked at. Good luck!...See MoreKitchen backsplash - which tiles for a white Cottage/Farmhouse kitchen
Comments (8)Hi Rasa, Nice to hear from you and I’m glad I was able to give you some inspiration for your kitchen tiles. I’ve included another image for you to look at that shows more of a farm house style kitchen with the coloured tiles. If you worried the coloured tiles might look too contemporary for your space, I would advise going for quite soft, muted colour tones to give you the same effect but in a more rustic style. You can see in the attached image how they have used a soft sheen, textured tile in neutral tones, with a subtle hint of colour to be in-keeping with that farmhouse feel. For your tile colours, you could pick up the off white tone of your cabinets with the grey in the granite, and a very soft hint of green or blue to add a little colour to achieve the same look for your kitchen. I have also added some paint swatches below you could use as reference for tile colours to help you visualise the combination. Off white: Greys: Blue or Green: Hopefully this answers your questions for you and I’d love to see some pictures when your project is finished. Good luck with the decorating. Comments (24)@corner Stone designs. sorry if I had given an impression it mud slinging. but objectively speaking the suggestion to go for a chimney just because someone asked for it instead of addressing the real issue us not what I intended to do. one has to understand all the negatives as well veggie going in for a decision . just like you have the right to suggest there is nothing wrong in pointing out the issues in the proposed solution. none of us are internet warriors but most of us are "sold" items that we will never need in our life by creating an illusion. I know that dinner call it business but I am not in such one and I have the luxury to call a spade a spade. Even now the person who asked for is not sure in what they want but they think that a chimney will solve the issue. engineering doesn't work that way. unless we know what the real issue us, which isn't clear if it is the smoke or the smell and the your of food cooked, the frequency, the 80/20 utility of the kitchen we are not even close to understanding the problem. my intent is to emphasize the importance of understanding the problem and then look for issue and not provide a ready made solution. we can all suggest something by seeing a picture that fire will come and catch the chef if it is located in the window but do you think that what you say is practical. you may construct this as much slinging be as a novice I have a genuine question. how many houses have such a fire accident. we don't even know if the stove is electric or gas. if it is electric then they just no question of fire. so I encourage you to objectively approach and not see this as a mud slinging thing as that's not the point....See MoreTips That Will Help You To Get The Perfect Interior Designing You Have
Comments (0)The days when our homes were not as intricately designed as the rest of our lives are a far cry now. Today nothing is a better representation of our selves than our own home is. This realization that our home needs to be a space of self-expression as much as say our clothes are or our mobile phone covers, has led to an unprecedented increase in the interior designing industry over the last decade. Following this new set tradition, there are a lot of top interior designers in Mumbai who can help you get your dream house done and dusted. Here’s a list of some of the key points that you need to keep in mind when you are getting your house done the way you want it to be. Do your Research – the first step to most of the things in life is to do your research. And interior designing is no exception to this. Keep exploring, eventually you will stumble upon an image that would be an exact depiction of what you had thought about for your house, or at the very least you will find something that will be the ghost of an idea and looking at it, you will suddenly know what it was that you have always wanted for your home. Go through designers’ portfolio – once you have an inkling of what you want, the next step is to find somebody who will be able to help you to extract that idea from your head and superimpose it on your house. This is where you go ahead and look for the best architects in Mumbai. Go through their portfolios and see which of them seem to you to be the one whose style matches the one you want your house to look like. Plan with your designer – get a taste of the trending home interior design Mumbai, and get planning with your contractor. Share all your ideas and make sure to get their professional insights on what would practically be the best for your home. Trust their opinions, and find a way to balance them with your instincts. Together, you can easily figure out a perfect combination of things to do in your home. Don’t be afraid to experiment – Go for something you have never done before to your house. Experiment. It might end up looking better than you could have imagined. Or it could end up looking hideous. See, that’s the thing about renovating. By its very definition, it essentially never has to end....See MoreRadhika Sethia
