Hi! Bathroom windows can be tricky. We'd like to suggest going for shutters - our shutters for bathrooms are built to stand high humidity and give you the option to have the lower half closed for privacy with the top half open so you can see the sky from the bath! As for fitting everything else in, have you checked out companies like Ideal Standard who have special small space ranges? Angled WCs which can fit into a corner rather than a straight wall for example might free up some extra space, or a shower bath that tapers at one end...? Good luck with the project.

I'm currently having an ensuite shower room put in that is only 80cm wide so I feel your pain!

There are loads of sinks / toilets / baths which are designed now for small bathrooms and ensuites. The only word of caution I would have is with the small baths - I don't think I would ever use a bath that was so small it was uncomfortable but I get that lots of people don't like it if they don't have one or need one for small kids.

Echo Shutterly Fabulous on the corner toilet - might work really well in this square space as you reduce the amount of leg room you need. Another idea for space saving (doesn't help much with layout of the white goods but does make it feel less of a squeeze) is a pocket sliding door or folding door rather than having to open it inwards.

I had a similar issue in my last house although mine was circa 180 x 180cm. The thing which made the most difference was getting a chippie to reverse the door so it opened outwards, sounds simple but you would not believe the difference this makes for maneuverability in the bathroom. If you are only going for a shower cubicle you could then use the three non-door corners for each piece of sanitary-ware meaning nothing has to go under the windows and you can have a vanity for storage, a mirror above the basin and a cupboard above the toilet for storage.

Also, i used those very slim picture shelves from Ikea on the non-bath/shower wall to display aftershaves and a jolly picture.

It's not within our budget to move any walls (they're load-bearing or over the stairs); and we're in a conservation area so wouldn't consider changing the window. We do really need the bath as we have a toddler. But re-hanging the door and using shutters definitely sound like things we can incorporate.

Hi. I think I'd go for a 1500 L shaped bath under the window with the shower on the left. Look at combined corner vanity and wc units for the bottom right hand corner (there are a few on the market). Use a really large mirror or mirror ŵall to increase the feeling of space.

Bath under the window is now looking like the best option. Yes, with the loo & sink on the external wall. But how to guard against the shower splashing all over the window and causing a mouldy sill and surround? It's a victorian wooden window frame. I've not been able to find a shower screen that fits both sides of the bath; and I'm really not keen on shower curtains.

There are plenty of waterproof shutters which you could look into to protect your window (just look on google), you could double up with a shower curtain on that side as well.

Just saw you don't don't like shower curtains. That said if you have a clear one on the window side and draw it back when not in use it would be quite unobtrusive. You many not need it if you have shutters though.

Is there room to box out even 10cm from the window wall, so you are a bit further from the window when showering?

You will easily get a corner shower in with the WC and sink under the window. However a bath, even a short one will eat up a lot of space. My suggestion is to perhaps consider just having a decent shower.

My advice to make the layout of a small bathroom work is to draw out the plan and elevations of each wall at a decent scale, say 1:10, and plan out everything in great detail before installing anything. Get some tracing paper and trace over the plan of the existing bathroom to try out layouts in pencil. Check the exact location of existing supply pipework, drainage and electrics. Put everything on the drawing, including tile splash backs, all sanitaryware including cisterns, taps, mirrors, shelves towel rails, skirting, window & cill, door and frame, lighting, radiators, extract fans etc. Scour the catalogues for the right size items and draw them on, to scale (also in elevation). Then talk through with your plumber exactly how the drainage and water supply pipework will connect to the sanitaryware you want to use (e.g. check the WC traps) to avoid nasty surprises.

Re the window, if you put the bath along that wall, you could hang a pair of shower curtains across the whole wall above the bath - with tie-backs, curtain rail etc to suit your style choice. I did this in my tiny bathroom many years ago, and it worked fine.

What about adding a Bay Window on one of the exterior walls ... Adding square footage to the room.

You could put the tub in the additional square footage
