Advice for redecorating drawing and living room
Comments (4)Thanks Cornerstone. I was actually looking forward for your response as you guys are quite regular on the discussions. Coming back, the kitchen adjoining the open to sky area is actually being used as a storeroom. For your reply 1) As I mentioned the existing drawing room serves dual purpose of living and drawing which becomes very messy and nigh impossible to keep clean for suprise visitors. also coz of the open area , the rooms are prone to mosquitoes and flies. Coming back to my question I would like to know budget friendly solution for covering the open area. ( I did consider opting for a skylight but the cost was off the charts) 2) Wardrobe and door Now that the drawing will be freed up, I don't see any use of the wardrobe in the new plan. I don't have any clarity of ideas for the rear dining area as to how deal with the very dark wardrobe( which I'm open to remodel it for another purpose) and the door that leads to the open area. 4) Thanks for the advise on the L shape sofa but my concern remains on the no. of seats would not be sufficient. Also would the L shape look better on the long wall or the wall with the passage door. 6) One more thing that bothers me is the yellow check pattern on the floor. How do I make the furniture, in terms of Color, complement the floor. Thanks again for your reply. Cheers...See Morerental house decoration
Comments (3)Hi Julie, Today there are a number of custom made multipurpose furniture pieces that are available in the market on the one hand whereas on the other certain regular pieces if used innovatively don't hurt your pocket yet solve the purpose. .Here are a few ideas to choose from - 1] Sofa cum bed Either go in for the ready made and built in sofa cum bed as shown below - or make two different pieces - a sofa with backrest and a backless settee and join them to form a bed when necessary - 2] Trunk cum coffee table An old trunk serves as an excellent coffee table and also doubles up as a storage for your extra cushions, magazines etc. 3] Bench cum dining seat Go for a basic bench or an upholstered one, its still a cheap buy. You may use it by the dining table for seating or move it to the living or even the bedroom. 4] Settee cum storage A small ledge with drawers or a free standing box storage, all it needs is a cushioning on top and it serves as a reading nook with place to store you books or as a place to sit and wear you footwear that's stored inside. 5] Nest tables These are a blessing in disguise. They can be easily moved around and can be used as end tables for living room or side tables for bedroom or can remain stacked in a corner when not needed. Go for simple designs or ornate ones depending on you budget. 6] Cabinet cum TV Console An old cabinet can be put to use by mounting a TV on top of it while the cabinet can be used to store media accessories. Tip: Do visit Chor Bazaar in Mumbai and Lajpat Nagar in Delhi where you can find old reclaimed furniture or cheap replicas. These are open for bargain and are a good buy as far as the pricing and aesthetic is concerned. You can also find furniture online these days. Just be wary of what you are buying and from where. Hope this helps. All the best! Regards, RnD Atelier Nagpur...See Moreneed advice on curtains, center table, position of plants for drawing
Comments (9)Hi Aditi, You have beautiful ethnic style furniture and a spacious drawing room. For this space to look more vibrant and lively here are our suggestions: This being a typical traditional style seating, would like to suggest you to change the upholstery of the current geometric pattern to a plain solid colour. Need to add a combination of printed and plain cushion covers which will give the necessary colour pop, matching the palette of the room. Add a huge area rug to bring in the necessary colour and warmth to the room. Please go for bamboo chick blinds for the window treatment. As this adds up to the ethnic traditional style For the above ideas please visit the link shared, which is on similar lines, and will help you decorate your room and the interiors in a similar. Add some tall plants on all the four corners of your seating space. Also succulents are very in these days For more info on some easy and maintainable house plants please head to our blog that will help choose some for your interiors. Comments (10)Hi Gaurav, Here are a few suggestions - 1] Put up a nice collection of photographs over the chest of drawers. Put up planters on either its side. 2] You may go for a wallpaper behind the leather sofa or else opt for a grey coloured wall. Grey would highlight your sofa and give it a background. Accentuate it with a mirror or a painting. 3] Cover the window AC with an american pleat curtain that you can draw apart when you need to use the AC and which otherwise covers the entire window. 4] What are those green cushions in the corner? If they are floor cushions, highlight them with cushions. 5] A major requirement of your living room is a set of coffee table and matching end tables. This would visually connect the furniture together and make your space more utilitarian. 6] Choose a colour them and stick to it. Opt for curtains, rugs/carpets, cushions and wallpaper in tune with it. Since you have a striking blue accent chair you may choose to repeat the colour sparingly over the entire room to achieve a cohesive look. 7] Go for curios, collectibles like vases, votive, lanterns, figurines etc. to add a personal touch. Here are some pictures for your reference - Notice the use of side and end tables, colour theme, paintings, mirror, decor items, paint shade and cushions used in the images above. I hope they inspire you. All the best! Regards, RnD Atelier Nagpur...See MoreAnn
