Comments (0)Hi, Our new home is nearing completion. We are looking for suggestions and ideas in decorating our living room and kitchen based on the plan attached. All walls in living room are double ceiling. 1) We plan to put our TV on wall B. We are open to wall mounting or getting a custom made cabinet there. 2) Fireplace has a nice mantle 3) Wall A is really big and tall. I am wondering what to put there. 4) Ceiling has 4 recessed lights 5) Windows on wall D faces East so there will be ample morning light. Windows are really huge. 3 at the bottom and 3 at the top. 6) Flooring is hand scraped hardwood in dark color Specifically it will help us if you can suggest - Wall Colors, faux finish ideas, art work, paintings, pictures ideas lighting ideas Blinds / shutters ideas - Is it advisavble to put blinds/shutters on the 3 top windows Any other suggestions are welcome. Comments (16)It took me ten years to figure out as an adult why my allergies are non stop when I visit my moms custom home. This morning I figured it out. Pine floors. We eliminated feathers, my seasonal allergies and there are no other triggers apparently in this house. I have to take the max allergy meds per day to be here. Treating the floor did not stop this from.happening to me as my allergies are severe. So heads up guys, people can react to the wood flooring even after its treated...See Morewant to change the flooring and living room interior
Comments (14)Ashish That is a nice idea. However if you are going with light walls, I would say go darker with your furniture colour. If you use white or off white wall colour, go with a darker grey sofa. Though not very dark but at least 2-3 tones darker than your walls. Go with khadi texture on sofa covers. It looks very nice and is quite trendy. https://www.houzz.in/photos/vikram-phvw-vp~280 Something like this is a good option (regarding colour and texture) Mounting the tv on the wall is also a good option. What i will ask you to change is your coffee table. Replace it with with a glass or a wooden nesting table. Go for a set of 2 round ones with walnut polish (if it is wood) .Keep a small dari rug under it. use you wall paper on the wall on which you are mounting your tv or on the wall directly adjacent to it. separate your dinning and living areas....See MoreDo I need to move the kitchen island?
Comments (0)Buying a home that needs a lot of updating. We plan on painting the kitchen cabinets white or cream and installing granite countertops, new sink, new light fixtures, new stove vent, etc. The floor is hickory hardwood. My dilemma is the island. Should I keep it? Or remove it? If I keep it I am thinking of topping it with a dark butcher block to match the floor. I am open to any suggestions to make this kitchen better, without breaking the bank....See Morehouserookie
