The black sofa could be considered a neutral, and therefore will go with just about anything. Do you like the white and gray, or are you looking for color? Bright colors? Subtle colors? Also with a baby I would surely want an area rug for her little knees. Colour...objects of interest...lighting...all add "energy' or we refer to as "movement" in a space. Interesting pieces of furniture with different textures and different "eye-levels". For instance, you can purchase 3 or 4 different forms of seating options...you are in India so you should be able to find FABULOUS furnishings for great prices. You could purchase a low-slung sofa, an extra large "floor pillow" (it would act as a chair or foot stool), a leather-covered round ottoman and an interesting crate/box with a slab of glass or intricate wood over top...this is your seating arrangement for the living room and will work as a great "hang-out" space that you can enjoy by yourself or with a tonne of people hanging around! With all that visual "movement" from one object to another to another, you will create interest! And "interest" is energy! But your best bet for energy...people!

HI -- Well this is a nice floor plan but it creates problems . Because the space is all open doesn't mean you have to put the living room or the dining room where indicated on the plan . Also where you have marked for the sofa is not going to work there . Not enough room and in the way of getting to the bathroom etc, I do think you may have to have a free floating TV stand between the living -dining rooms . You could have the TV on the wall beside the kitchen and have the sofa facing or on the left wall and the dining at the front . I would put the TV on the left wall near the entrance and have the sofa facing it , leaving a hallway walking space behind the sofa . It's too bad the front entrance is on the left . If it had been on the right then that would be better flow into the center of the main floor . If you do decide to have the TV room divider where you show on the plan , keep it right over to the left wall as a room divider , then it won't cut the room in half so much and it keeps the stairwell open . Remember , you do not need to push the furniture against the walls .

Is the indent in the wall where you have the TV now, supposed to be for a TV or is it to be a closed up closet?? You could switch the room with living area where you walk in but then you cannot wall mount the TV due to windows. Plus you might like eating near windows for more lighting drama. Also , now seeing your hall , I think turning the dining table 90 degrees from how I placed it, would fit better in your space. You could consider an area rug under the table as well , which would help to define the space when you enter. Also keeping a runner and a vase with either fresh ( or nice fake) flowers on the table, will make it flow better with the living room area furniture.
