I agree whole heartedly. I also agree on starting with the bed. The bed should be the "hero" of the room. Night stands are always needed, but even they do not need to match. Then figure out exactly what you NEED for storage in the bedroom. There is no rule that you have to own a dresser if you store all of your clothes in the closet. Will you have a TV in the room? How do you plan to view it? From a sitting area, in bed? A sideboard with storage or a media center may be a better choice for you. Do you have a seating area, or at least a chair you can sit on and tie youe shoes or put on socks. Buy furniture for your specific needs, buy the best quality for the work horse pieces you can afford. Don't forget lighting, and a mirror of some sort. Look at the photos of Master Bedrooms here on Houzz, you'll get an inspiration for mixing and maybe land on a style that appeals to you. Fall in love with a piece, the green tags show you where they came from, or ask the question. Have Fun!!

I'm no pro, but I'm curious-does this apartment exist? It reminds me of a project my husband took in an elective class, Intro to architecture, where he was required to design a living space as part of his final grade (Or is it some sort of student housing??) I'm asking because 1) All of the bedrooms are the same size and are isolated from each other, 2) the dining area at 10 x10 in the middle is going to be a corridor and you'll have almost no space for a table and chairs. 3) Then also all the bathrooms are ONLY accessed through the closets, which is extremely awkward for visitors. As far as the bedrooms, not necessarily an exciting choice, but your easiest choice is a bed against the toilet wall, with at least one nightstand, and a dresser on the wall by the door.

Typically, you want your bed to either be facing the entrance. As you do not have enough wall except the 10' wall, your head board and any night stands to go on that wall. It will allow for even a queen sized bed there. A queen sized bed measures 60" wide by 80" long. I would get a standard height bed. You should get the best bed you can afford. You need good sleep. People often go cheap on a bed. Better to go cheap on furniture, but get a good mattress. That will allow for 5 feet of wall for 2 nightstands (approx 2'long) or smaller if you choose. I'd put your desk on the wall with the TV. Not sure how big your TV is, but you should have plenty of room. What is Almira? Depending on what that is (dresser or wardrobe?) you should have enough room for some dresser with drawers on either of your 9' walls. Good luck.

You can work with your currant wall color or go more yellow - that is up to you. If you do decide to go more yellow. get some small inexpensive sample bottles at the paint store, paint some poster board and hang it on a wall for couple of days because getting the right buttery yellow can be hard. A soft yellow and lavender is pretty together but I also like the sea green. When you said a combo of modern and cottage - that made me think of beach cottages, which often have soft colors (including sea green) and unfussy, calm interiors. You can put a large painting up if you have the wall space for it. Many bedrooms have tall chest, dresser mirror, tall headboard and big TV, all which take up wall space. If you can hang the painting without it being crowded by any of the things I mentioned, it should look very nice. If you wish to do a curtain fabric treatment to a wall and you have the vision of what you want - then go for it. I had a friend who did that in collage - only problem was the yards and yards of fabric needed got rather expensive. So, I would start with finding bedding you love. Simple white is good, and not too expensive. However, you might find something else light that you love, or a quilt or throw for the bottom of the bed and the colors and shades might lead you in a different direction for wall color or accents. So bedding first, then curtains, then see how your wall color is and then add accents and art - although your painting can also be an inspiration for colors.
