Bring some color in like your reds with pillows and a throw. You can still have white. You might want to paint your room as well. That can make all the difference.

you might consider a headboard. Look at Pier 1 online. They have a full size ( it looks like you have a full bed) that's about $100.00 and its white. Overstock is a good source also. I've recently seen lots of pretty comforters there and at Pier 1. A headboard would give your bed a more "grown up" look. If you love white, and take care of it, a white comforter would be beautiful. All you'd need would be pillow shams and a fun, colorful accent pillow right in the middle.
I'll bet you have an "At Home" store in Austin. They have tons of bedding at really reasonable prices. Don't forget Walmart & Target too. Then, while you're shopping, look for other pieces to complete your room. Maybe a bench at the foot of the bed? Maybe an oversized picture? It doesn't have to cost a lot, and you can do this in stages. Always remember a couple of things about decorating & bedding. Try to always buy natural fiber sheets. Synthetic sheets won't breath so they won't be comfortable. I look for cotton SATEEN. The sateen means they will have a softer and smoother feel. Thread count is over rated. Look for cotton sateen. Also, when you're young & starting out, you need to experiment with different colors & ideas. Make a habit to hang onto & put your receipts in a safe place so you can return things.

Are you sleeping under the window? From Feng shui perspective it is NOT recommended , you will never rest. Headboard is a MUST! What are your intentions? Are you looking for relationship?

I actually have a queen bed but I'm glad it doesn't look big--it's hard to fit a bigger bed in a small apartment. I am sleeping under the window--I find the window kind of frames the bed and I like looking out at the trees from my bed.

I think that's gorgeous! I agree that your bed should not be right in front of a window. Can you put the headboard on a different wall? Aelita ~ are you offering decorating advice....or something else?? Probably inappropriate in this forum!

There is literally no other place! The only other option would be to put it against the wall, in which case it would be closer to another window...so not much accomplished there. The woes of a studio apartment...

That's very nice! I think with a headboard, it'll be much better in front of that window. It gives it a barrier, and a visual break. Also, probably more comfortable for you without the drafts, noise and light you must get. In the end, you must do what makes you happy, and do what fits into your budget. Good Luck!

I'd get the bed, leave it in front of the window, dress it similarly to how you did the sofa, which is awesome btw. Maybe more feminine with a sari fabric or kantha throw draped over the headboard and a sheepskin rug. Really like your style!
