I've used both glossy and matte, but I personally prefer matte. It never goes out of style. Glossy laminates are higher maintenance too, and show finger prints and scratches easily. Matte remains neat. Also, when you cut an angle out of a glossy laminate, I find the edges are not as neat as in the case of matte
