The Curtice Group Inc

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars7 December 2018
“I'm happy to give Scott Curtice my strongest positive recommendation. Our project went quite smoothly, staying on schedule thanks to the fact that my office is in the house and Scott's commitment to providing a foreman. This enabled us to make decisions quickly and address problems promptly. Scott and his crew showed a lot of creativity in meeting our requirement to stay in the house during the renovation, to the extent of setting up a temporary kitchen and shower in the basement. In the end, we only had to be out of the house for about a week. He was also very good about coordinating with our architect and the cabinetmaker that we selected ourselves. Having heard a few horror stories of renovation cost overruns, I think we also did well in this respect. Our final figure was about 10% more than the initial estimate due to the kind of unforeseen issues that can be expected on any such project, along with a few changes that we ordered. The level of detail Scott provides in his constantly updated spreadsheet also helped us to make some decisions that reduced our cost.”

“A talented group of professionals that have worked on a remodel of the facade/elevation of our house and then a complete gut and remodel of our Masterbath and bedroom. Creative, kind, focused, and incredibly talented. They were so easy to work with and a pleasure to see each day as well. We were happy when the job was completed (on schedule) but sad to see them go because they were such nice people.”

“After a year of searching for the right people to replace our attached carport we were happy to find Crossroads Contracting. From the first meeting with the project manager ( Nick), we could see that this was going to be a positive experience. Nick worked with us to design something that was both structurally superior and surprisingly affordable. In fact, we were so impressed with the workmanship that we hired them again a few months later to replace our porch. If you are looking for quality work at a competitive price , then look no further. Our thanks to Nick, Crystal, Johnny, Shaun, Barry & Jim for increasing both the comfort level and the value of our home. We know who we will be calling for any future projects!”
Carpenter & MacNeille

“We worked with Carpenter & MacNeille over the winter and early spring of 2014 to redecorate The Inn at Castle Hill, a ten-room B&B in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The project included new and reupholstered furniture, new rugs/carpeting, new paint and wallpaper, new lighting, new window treatments, and accessories (accent pillows, decorative items, etc.), and a small amount of construction. We were looking for "design wow" in keeping with the five-star nature of the Inn, which is nestled into a corner of The Crane Estate, a seaside country estate that has been designated a National Historic Landmark. We are thrilled with the results. Carpenter & MacNeille had done much of the original design and construction for the Inn a decade before. They listened carefully to our goals for this project, understood precisely what we hoped to accomplish, helped us prioritize in ways that significantly improved our impact, and provided insightful design guidance along the way. The project was on budget and guests are saying that the Inn has never looked better!”

“We chose Sunspace Design over other companies because we wanted a custom sunroom- not a one-size-fits-all outfit that assembles pre-made components. They carefully listened to our wishes, and designed just what we asked for! They custom-build an 18' x 14' Glass Conservatory attached to our home. They also made helpful suggestions to give us a unique room, complete with varnished mahogany ceiling beams and an all-glass roof. Their workmen are professionals with many years of experience- not easy to find these days when anybody with a hammer can call themselves a carpenter. They strategically used cedar in places to assure no rotting wood in the decades to come. When we asked for changes along the way, they had the experience to know how to accomplish it. We also interviewed other sunroom companies, but they could only offer pre-fab units in limited sizes... basically, they were "assemblers" for large franchises- exactly what we didn't want. Sunspace Design builds custom rooms- based on what you want, how you want it, and something that doesn't look like it came from one of the 'Box Stores'. Tom, his son, JT, and their crew were all very qualified professionals, each with many years of experience. We highly recommend Sunspace Design!!!”

“Installed a great new kitchen in our old house. Worked around the quirky antique dimensions. Very good value for the price.”

“Linda was the designer and project manager for the cupola renovation of our Eastlake Stick Victorian house. (http://www.houzz.com/projects/152835). The design exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with her management of the project. Linda was very receptive to our desires and quickly responsive to any requests and concerns. Where renovations can become quite stressful, Linda created trust and gave us peace of mind. We very much enjoyed working with her and the talent she brought to the project. The cupola is unique and has become the favorite space in our home.”

“The Maker's Guild did a phenomenal job on my family's condo renovation. It was not a small project - we added a full bathroom, forced air/AC, changed the floor plan, redid the floors and did a brand new kitchen. Lee was there every step of the way - from designing a new floor plan to selecting the appropriate countertop for the space to putting the finishing touches together. They listened to our needs, came up with a plan within our budget and were highly professional. We would highly recommend them.”

“Paul Dobler remodeled a 1980’s house in Colorado for us. It was originally built with radiant heat along the center beam of the house, so all of the rooms had walls up to the door headers and no ceilings! He raised the walls up to the open beam roof, tore down and resized 2 bedrooms with pocket doors in the closets and transom windows above the doors. He moved the front wall of the house out 8 feet to expand the living room. Paul also designed a 20 x 20 sun room addition with Structural Insulated Panels. He installed 4” aluminum air tubes embedded in the concrete floor that move air warmed by the tile floor in this south-facing room through the crawl space and connect to the existing heat ducts for added solar gain. He installed an amazing Nanowall 6-panel glass folding door that opens onto a deck that surrounds the room on 3 sides. The sun room is connected to the existing building with glass pocket doors. Paul is an expert at hanging doors. The sun room addition has an upper covered deck accessed by a custom metal stairway. Paul suggested the upper deck to add some outdoor living space and to make the most of the view of Mesa Verde and the LaPlata Mountains. Paul also removed the damaged concrete walkway along the driveway and had new concrete poured on all 4 sides of the house. He designed a new front entry and a back mud room. The finishing touch was stucco on the outside in a Southwest style. Throughout the design process Paul worked diligently to incorporate every detail that was important to us. He used a program integrated with Google Earth that let us “walk through” the house at different times of the day and year. Having him on-site working with the building crew and overseeing the subcontractors was invaluable. He met the challenge of a 50-mile drive to Home Depot and a delivery schedule of “sometime next week” from the local hardware store. We’re very pleased with Paul’s work on our home and would hire him again without hesitation.”

“Dan Barry of Hartley Botanic earned a 5 star rating from me (which I never do) for his work with me on our greenhouse project. Dan was always available for questions from my first inquiry & throughout the entire process. His knowledge helped to explain the overall timing & steps involved from ordering to the completion by the Hartley team. He was able to thoroughly answer any questions, such as the proper heat needed for the winter, & add information that was practical & complete. He had knowledge of the overall market & could explain differences with great attention to detail & was always giving helpful ideas for my specific situation.”
