“We met Don 2 years ago with ideas to build our dream home. He worked closely with us and our builder to adapt our home plan to our lot. Great attention was placed on preserving the natural landscape and numerous 100+ year old live oaks. Several months into the design, we totally changed plans and adapted a second home plan to the lot.Don was extremely easy to work with and provided excellent and comprehensive plans. He personally visited the site several times before construction and during construction to see how the lines on paper became our home.”

“HH Furr Architecture & Development designed and oversaw the construction of our 2800 sq ft, two-story home in Ocean Springs, MS. We love it! There are so many interesting architectural details--I smile every time I see it. This is our "forever home." Henry Furr is very easy to work with. We told him we wanted a home that made use of every bit of our space, and he gave us exactly that. Plus, he added lots of great details and features that I would not have thought of. And I felt so much more comfortable having him oversee the construction as well. All in all, working with HH Furr Architecture & Development was a great experience!”

“Sun Plans, Inc and Architect, Debbie Coleman were fabulous to work with in the design of RISE - our passive solar home. Sean and I wanted to build a passive solar, sustainable green design home for years. We searched for the perfect lot, and once found, we searched for the perfect home design. We quickly found Sun Plans, as 100% of their focus is passive solar. We bought Debbie's book, The Sun Inspired House, and found elements of houses that we loved - open floor plans, lofts, atriums, towers, airlock entry ways, and more. You can buy a plan, adapt a plan or work with Debbie on a new design. We thought we could adapt, but soon learned that we had some customized aspects that would lead to the creation of RISE - primarily the clerestory. The design process took about a year from beginning to end, and was done 100% through email and phone calls. Debbie was wonderfully responsive, not only to us as clients, but to our builder, structural engineer, energy analysts, and more. We stay in touch to this day and we do hope to meet in person at some point! Because of Debbie' s design, we were selected to be featured in Home Power magazine - more info and more pictures - Http://www.homepower.com/articles/solar-electricity/project-profiles/mountain-solar Favorite elements: Finding reclaimed lumber from the 1800's for the loft; floor design, my rock - bit of Frank Lloyd Wright; kitchen; patio design and fire pit.”

“In our estimation, we feel fortunate to have found Dennis Cowart and company. We are a husband and wife with completely different tastes who seldom agree on design or decor. Before beginning the restoration (part of home) and a remodel (with an addition) on a historically significant home in Ocean Springs, we went to him. He listened intently to our desires, individually and together. On his first submission, Dennis was 95% on-target for a design that restored the home's dignity and made us both extremely happy. A couple of tweaks later, we were ready to go. His reputation and standing as an architect helped the planning and permitting slide along much more easily than expected. The Historic Preservation Committee appreciated his vision, and we had approval on the first submission. He helped us find the perfect contractor for this sensitive project and was always available to answer issues or help find the most elegant solutions that the restoration of a home this age creates. Our home is a showplace. An architect of his talent, depth of knowledge, and expertise is a rare find, indeed. On top of all that, he is a kind and decent man. We are planning a new project. Dennis Cowart will be our first call.”

“I needed an extremely fast turnaround on an exterior building in the backyard of our large lot. This building's purpose was to provide an outdoor dining/entertainment structure for my family and occassional guests. Kathy was immediately able to provide me with several nice options for meeting my purpose without breaking my small budget. She organized the construction contractor, added some great last minute touches, and had everything ready to go for our New Year's Day Mega-Football Party.”

“I am basically a DIY person encountering a project too big for us to handle alone. I enlisted the help of Tim Spafford, a principal in Architecture & Design, to help me decide how to handle an extensive remodel of a simple 1950s stucco cottage. I need professional advice on how to comply with new code for a hurricane zone home remodel. This job is centered on the kitchen, but will require complete new flooring throughout the house, a complete new standing seam metal roof, replacement windows plus new windows, extending the master bedroom, upgrading the power supply and gas service, an emergency natural gas generator, a tankless gas water heater, matching the addition with existing exterior materials, raising and extending the deck, and reconfiguring the front entry. Over the past couple of years, I purchased all kitchen appliances and fixtures (except lighting), bought the hardwood flooring, and we set aside funds for the balance of our remodel costs. I really need him to guide us in choices from this point forward, so there will be few surprises when the contractor begins work. I met with Tim twice so far; we also correspond via email. I also gave him my HOUZZ inspiration photos which show the style and specific features we like. This is not going to be a home featured in Architectural Digest, but I sincerely hope it will be one he is proud to acknowledge. I am a fan of good architecture and good construction work.”
