“We interviewed 3 architects and chose John Allegretti based on his previous work and enthusiasm for our specific project. We wanted to go from a 1-1/2 story, 2 bedroom, 1-1/2 bath to something more. Our lot size is 33 x 132 ft. which isn't much to work with. Our location on lake Michigan's Silver Beach is extremely desirable but our home was not allowing us to take full advantage of available views. John created a full second story complete with a master suite (bedroom, bath and living area) and walk out second floor deck. This deck offers privacy and another beach view perspective. We now have expansive views throughout our home. (John used glass railings throughout.) We ended up with a more spacious home than we had envisioned. John also presented our project to the local planning commission (we needed variances), and remained engaged throughout the project which was a big help to us. We would work with John Allegretti and his associates again.”

“Michael Menn designed and constructed with the help of his experienced pool of subcontractors the kitchen of my dreams in an older home that I love for both its tradition and its memories. It is a pleasure for me to come down in the morning to a space so much in keeping with the style of our home and offering me at the same time all that is in modo contemporary for the our time. Michael Menn is a gentleman who honors his word amd his contractural agreements. He was always available to me and responded promptly to any and all concerns or questions that I may have had. Michael is in addition someone with whom one could easily make a lasting friendship. I would not hesitiate for a minute to recommend him to others nor to contact him for any future projects that I had in mind.”

He has designed and executed on two buildings we own in Chicago, coming up with a design that enhanced the rental units in the properties. “My husband and I were very happy with James' work for us which included architectural work for our master bedroom and bathroom and our kitchen. Our Oak Park home is a 1906 gem and we wanted to keep the integrity of detail yet become more livable. Both projects included moving walls; designing wooden details--windows to cabinets--that reflected detail in the rest of the house; placing weight-bearing beams to support ceilings and roof; redesigning stairs to basement and back yard, etc. Vanderheyden is a good listener and a solid architect/designer. He worked well with both our contractor and kitchen designer to improve and carry out our designs. We give him 5 stars. Linda and John Hillman”

“As a designer, I was able to work with Paul Benigno from Turn Collaborative on a complete gut rehab of an 1880's home on a double lot in a landmark district in Chicago. Paul was great to work with from every facet - creative and thoughtful, with a broad and deep knowledge of construction.
