“My wife and I bought a home on a beautiful lake just a short distance from our offices, removed the existing home, and needed an incredible design for this unique property. We decided to retain Darrell and Liz based on some of their previous work, as well as both of them were LEED certified (an organization and green building standard I helped start in the early ‘90’s). They quickly caught our vision and desires, and made many improvements by blending in their own expertise and experience. At each iteration of the design we became more and more excited about our future home and how it seamlessly integrated into the property promising wonderful views and an incredible indoor/outdoor living experience. Sadly our plans changed and we sold the property, but have purchased 10 acres in Washington state with an even more incredible view, and will be incorporating many of the design features into our retirement home. Darrell and Liz are highly recommended if you’re wanting to do something outside the ordinary, and want architects who are easy to work with.”

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with Hutch on various projects spanning a number of years. On two projects, I was the owner’s representative/project coordinator, so I have seen him through the eyes of a client. On others, I’ve worked on the contractor’s team as selection coordinator, and have seen him through the eyes of a peer. I also work for Hutch as a bookkeeper, so I see him as a business man, and I watch how he relates to all members on any project team. Hutch is not a brand to sell. He is a creative listener who delivers what the client dreams of or requires. I’ve also worked on projects with other designers. When on a “Hutchless” project, one thing I notice almost immediately (and miss terribly) is Hutch’s ability to know how a space will be used or lived in. In addition, he knows how materials will function and esthetically relate to each other, so that spaces just plain work — and they look fabulous in the process. Amazingly, with such focus on the design and esthetics of a project, he is forever cognizant of the structural integrity of a building. He knows what works, and what doesn’t. Hutch is very good at guiding his clients through the process, which can be overwhelming. He’s realistic, he issues alerts when needed and he will do what the client insists upon in spite of his better judgment, so long as it does not produce an inferior or dangerous structure. I look forward to working on more projects with Hutch, and to referring him to anyone who needs a thoughtful professional who is really good at what he does and loads of fun to work with. He takes his work seriously, but is anything but stogy!!”

“Barnett did not disappoint...again! This is the 4th house I have used the interior/exterior design services of Barnett Adler...and it's certainly the most complex and best one he's done to date! Barnett has that incredible ability to envision gorgeous, welcoming and spectacular spaces from almost sterile rooms and make them into a reality. And...while keeping to a budget! What impresses me most is that he can give you a million dollar look at pennies on the dollar. Either through using less expensive substitutions or scouring the internet for close outs on very high end furniture, fabrics and accessories. He is also re-did my house's exterior. First on CAD/CAM and then by interviewing and selecting the best contractor who bid on the job. Barnett comes with my highest recommendations possible.”

“I had a logical idea of how to expand my building by 2,000 square feet. I hired SX3 Architecture to prepare the drawings, get them through the building permit process and supervise my contractors. During our initial meeting, Sean, the principal, had some very good suggestions of how to make the additional space look much more interesting, and use it to improve the appearance of the existing building - it is now dramatic and contemporary instead of predictable and plain! We also shifted the additional space relative to the original building to create distinct and more usable rooms inside the building.
