“I was looking for someone deeply experienced in technical domains, (architecture, construction, and fabrication) to fit the requirements of my custom home, the Galer Street House. Thomas was tasked with production of the interior custom cabinetry and associated custom woodworking. From our first meeting, Thomas’s communication, experience and broad background gave me confidence that he would understand the complex geometries and be able to deliver the high-end quality needed for this application. From the custom handmade walnut cabinets, custom furniture-like features and being always available to help me when the details needed his attention, he delivered. I was not disappointed.
In addition, when challenged by architectural details and budget constraints on the exterior of the home, Thomas, owner of Studio Walker Architects, Inc., was able to take a large burden off my shoulders with his durable design/build approach, which was substantially less expensive and also resulted in a better overall appearance. Thanks, Thomas!”

“We LOVE working with Heidi at H2D A+D. Down to earth, super creative, and exceptionally organized. Having completed projects of all types and sizes we know first hand how important it is to have an effective leader guiding things from the beginning. Each time we work with Heidi the plans are thorough, clear, & easy to interpret… so that by the time we show up to perform our tasks, we are set up to do nothing but succeed. Each job has that enjoyable, team approach and energy. And who wins? Everybody!
Thanks Heidi!”
Haven Design Workshop

“I am a retired Interior Designer and wanted to work with an architect who was up on the latest improvements in HVAC and plumbing. I had a pretty clear idea of the layout of our new house but needed help deciding on a contractor to hire as well as some creative structural details to make our 1800 sq. ft. single level home work for us as we age without looking like an "old folks home". Haven Design was instrumental in helping us select a contractor and we have been very pleased with the results.”
Bruce Owensby, Architect
Eco Homes in Arlington.
“Armentrout Residence
Our home was roughly a 1560 square foot Cape Cod cottage on a large lot. Originally, we intended to enlarge our kitchen, that eventually led to a larger addition and a full remodel. Our contractor, Norm Ferkingstad, introduced us to Bruce, an architect he’d worked with on other projects. We enjoyed working with Bruce as he really listened to what we wanted, he gave us so many choices, and introduced options we didn’t realize we had. Our home is now approximately 2900 square feet, including a new master suite.
We wanted the original feel of a cottage to be maintained. Bruce did a great job. From the street, the house doesn’t look any larger than it originally did. From the sides and rear, the addition blends seam-lessly with the existing structure. Bruce did an amazing job expanding our small home, blending old with new, while keeping the charm.
During early design meetings, Bruce stressed that we should interact with our home, not just exist in it. Bruce insights and recommendations added so much to our family’s home life experience. We really enjoy his creation of a variety of spaces to fulfill a diversity of moods.
We have a large extended family, so we often have people visiting during the summer. We always hear from guests how comfortable our home is. They say it has a flow that leads you through the home. Parties and gatherings are comfortable and people are never clumped in the kitchen, but are spread throughout our home. Everyone comments there is a great balance of private space and inviting public space. We can easily have 30 people in our home without it feeling crowded. Yet, when it’s just the four of us, the house still feels cozy and warm. The design of our deck and outdoor space is inviting and in constant use. As a result our home has become the “go to place” for family events and parties, including a small private wedding in our backyard.
We couldn’t be happier with our home. We love how Bruce blended our traditional desires with contem-porary ideas. Many times we have stood on a small hill on our property at night, looking down at our home, lit up, and take delight in what we have. We are so very thankful for what Bruce created for us.
From design through construction, Bruce provided great customer service. He is patient and very respon-sive. He charges fair fees for superior design service. Not only do we highly recommend Bruce; we also hired him again for our next project, a separate carriage-style garage and home office. For us, Bruce is clearly an exceptional architect.

“Craig and his team did a wonderful job repairing structural damage of our porte-cochere. They were quick and efficient, and had strong communication.”
Pelletier + Schaar
Eco Homes in Arlington.
“Pearl Schaar and David Pelletier provided us with a great experience from the initial top-level planning through the engineering review of our 4000+sq. ft. waterfront home on Camano Island. We worked together as a team, sometimes through a careful and deliberate process, other times through brainstorming and thinking out of the box to accomplish our end goals for our home. They guided and took direction from us as well. In retrospect, I believe the primary impact they had in providing the house we wanted was the education they provided regarding natural materials and flow. We learned and gained in the process.”
Concept Architecture, LLC
Eco Homes in Arlington.
“Highest recommendation! We absolutely love the new custom home that Martin, with Concept Architecture, designed for us. Martin took our ideas and some very site specific requirements and created a home that is so much more than we expected.
Martin is friendly, professional and REALLY listens. The very first draft sketches proved that he understood what we wanted and needed. He worked with the county to meet all of the special requirements for building on a slope near water.”
Soundesign Group Architects, PLLC
Eco Homes in Arlington.
“I was referred to Sounddesign Group by a friend and selected them after interviewing 3 architects. After the initial referral, I was attracted to SDG because of the variety of home design styles shown on their website. I didn't want my project to be pigeonholed as a "type". I wanted my design professional to be open-minded and easy to work with, and I definitely found that in Eric Terry. He is one of the most easy-going people I have ever worked with, but at the same time he gets things done. The process was simple and fun, and we got everything we wanted even though some of it required both Eric and our builder to think outside the box. It turned out to be a bit of a complicated project, but you never would have known it from Eric's attitude. His firm took everything in stride.
We also utilized Sounddesign's interior design specialist, Kirsten, for some interior help. She was similarly delightful and easy to work with, even within my budget constraints and my desire to do most things on my own.
The finished project is beautiful, and we had a great time during the design and build process. I cannot recommend these folks highly enough.”
Dan Nelson, Designs Northwest Architects
Eco Homes in Arlington.
“As General Contractors, we have had the privilege of working with Dan Nelson and the great folks at Designs Northwest Architects on many projects, some award winning. We recommend them highly and look forward to working with them on many projects in the future! ~ RGN Construction, LLC, Seattle WA”
Stig Carlson Architecture
Eco Homes in Arlington.
“We would highly recommend Stig Carlson as an architect for your project because he listens to our ideas, he understands that this will be our home, not just his design. Stig has the unique ability to diffuse a situation where the individuals disagree on a particular issue, to move beyond this point until the two have had an opportunity to discuss their views and then later he
will remember to readdress this issue. Stig manages to keep the project moving forward when dealing with county officials who give vague guidelines
by requesting specific details of what they will and will not accept. He is an effective advocate for your project and provides an excellent set of drawings
for you and your builder to help eliminate unexpected costly and time consuming change orders His kind and gentle manner is well suited for any client, yet strength and knowledge arm him for county regulatory rhetoric.
We are most pleased with our soon to be built home.
Sharon Vaughn and Bruce Porter”
