Here we replaced the mantle with a new, unfinished wood mantle that we wanted to distress and make look rustic and worn. We gave it several heavy coats of paint as well and now it's as though it has been there forever. The lovely bergere chairs and ottoman were recovered in a lush pale grey velvet for the perfect complement to the Carrara marble surround.
